Our People
Joseph J. Szela, CPA, graduated from Bryant College in 1994. He worked for Mottle, McGrath, Braney, and Flynn CPAs and Carlin, Charron & Rosen CPAs prior to joining Joseph J. Szela & Associates, P.C. in 1998.
Charles D. Laws, Jr., CPA, graduated from Nichols College in 1982. He worked for Shepherd & Goldstein CPAs and Patterson & Gerry CPAs prior to joining Joseph J. Szela & Associates, P.C. in 2004.
William H. Goddard, Jr. EA, graduated from Quinsigamond Community College with a degree in accounting and further studied at Worcester State College. Bill began his career with Joseph J. Szela & Associates, P.C. in 1999. He left the firm in 2007 to explore an accounting position with a private company before rejoining our firm in 2013.
Christopher Daoust, rejoined the firm in 2021. Chris has 10 years of tax preparation experience and nearly 40 years in accounting.
Joey Szela, joined the firm as part of an internship program while attending Bentley University and majoring in accounting. He is scheduled to graduate Summa Cum Laude in May of 2024. Upon graduation, he will pursue his Master’s Degree, Public Accounting Licensing and a career as a CPA.
Our History
The original firm was founded in the mid-1950s by James A. Kelly and was continued by his son, James A. Kelly, Jr., CPA, with whom Paul E. Daoust was a partner. Mr. Szela joined the Firm in 1998 and acquired the Firm from Mr. Daoust in 2011. The firm provides accounting, auditing, and tax services for individuals, small and medium-sized businesses, and tax-exempt organizations.
Our Credentials
Our firm participates in the Peer Review program prescribed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants (MSCPA). We are reviewed every three years, and the resulting reports have stated that all of our accounting practices and procedures complied with or exceeded the standards of the industry.
